French-Algerian midfielder Maghnes Akliouche focused on AS Monaco but open to future EPL move
France midfielder of Algerian descent, Maghnes Akliouche, has disclosed that he is open to a future move to the English Premier League.
The 23-year-old midfielder was heavily linked with a transfer during the summer window, with several top European clubs interested.
However, Monaco’s €70 million valuation was not met, and Akliouche ultimately stayed with the Ligue 1 side where he developed through the academy ranks.
Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested, but Premier League clubs were also in contention. Manchester City were mentioned as a potential destination before the signing of Rayan Cherki, while Tottenham Hotspur were also strongly linked.
Speaking at a press conference monitored by Africasoccer, Akliouche addressed the speculation while reaffirming his commitment to his current club.
“It is always flattering to have these kinds of links. But I am a Monaco player and tomorrow, we will be playing against Tottenham Hotspur, and I will give it my all. A future move to the Premier League? Why not, but what is important is tomorrow’s match,” said Akliouche.
With growing interest from England and impressive performances in France, Akliouche’s future could see him make a move to the Premier League in the coming seasons.
