French-Algerian midfielder Maghnes Akliouche emerges as PSG’s top target amid intense summer transfer speculation

French-Algerian midfielder Maghnes Akliouche emerges as PSG's top target amid intense summer transfer speculation

Maghnes Akliouche could be on the verge of a major move this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain making the AS Monaco playmaker a key target as they look to continue their strategy of investing in top domestic talent.

The 23-year-old, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2024–2025 campaign with Monaco, has attracted significant interest after a season that saw him register 7 goals and 12 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have placed him firmly on PSG’s radar, with the capital club reportedly prepared to battle rival suitors — including Premier League champions Manchester City — for his signature.

Led by sporting director Luis Campos, PSG have made it clear they intend to prioritise emerging stars from within Ligue 1. Following the acquisitions of Bradley Barcola and Désiré Doué, Akliouche is now seen as the next key piece in their long-term project.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest he has become a top priority for manager Luis Enrique, who is said to be particularly impressed by the player’s versatility, vision, and technical flair.

Akliouche, a France youth international with Algerian heritage, remains undecided about which country he will represent at senior level.

On the pitch, however, there is no uncertainty: his ability to operate both behind the strikers and deeper in midfield has drawn comparisons to some of the league’s most influential creative forces.

His adaptability and football intelligence have not gone unnoticed at the Parc des Princes.

Despite growing interest, AS Monaco have been firm in their stance. The principality club has made clear that they are not actively looking to part ways with their midfield gem, but have reportedly placed a valuation in the region of €60 million on the player.

The price tag reflects not only his statistical output but also the potential many see in Akliouche to develop into a regular international and a cornerstone of any top side in Europe.

Speaking during a post-season press conference, Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro acknowledged that a summer move could be on the cards, while also emphasising the importance of making the right decision for Akliouche’s development.

“Leaving or not, both would be good choices for him,” Scuro said. “Few clubs can afford a player of his level. He will have to be very smart in his choice. He must go somewhere where the style of play suits him, and where he is trusted to become an international. He deserves it.”

As PSG prepare for life after Kylian Mbappé, who is expected to leave the club in the coming weeks, the pursuit of Akliouche may represent more than just a tactical decision — it could be a symbolic passing of the torch to the next generation of French footballing talent.

With the transfer window officially open, and negotiations expected to intensify in the coming weeks, all eyes will be on the future of Maghnes Akliouche.

Whether he chooses to remain at Monaco or take a leap to one of Europe’s elite clubs, the summer promises to be a defining chapter in the career of one of Ligue 1’s brightest stars.
