French-Algerian midfielder Maghnes Akliouche calls Tottenham interest ‘very flattering’
Monaco midfielder Maghnes Akliouche says Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in him is ‘very flattering’ as speculation over his future continues to grow.
The 23-year-old French-Algerian has been one of AS Monaco’s standout performers this season, attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
Spurs, in particular, have maintained a long-term interest and are believed to have made enquiries over the summer.
Speaking ahead of Monaco’s clash with Tottenham, Akliouche admitted he was honoured by the reports but insisted his focus remains on his current club.
“It was very flattering to read these rumours and connections, but I am a Monaco player and tomorrow I face Tottenham, so I will give my all,” he said.
When asked about a potential move to England, he replied, “As for my possible future in the Premier League? Why not, but we’ll see. What matters to me is tomorrow’s match.”
The playmaker, who has recently extended his contract with Monaco, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign last season.
His creativity and technical skill have made him one of Ligue 1’s most promising young midfielders.
Akliouche stressed that transfer talk would not distract him from performing for his team.
“I’m focused on my performance and that of the team. The important thing for us is to win the match. I’m not at all focused on rumours or external pressure,” he said.
Tottenham reportedly view Akliouche as a long-term target.
Manchester City, Liverpool, and Newcastle United have also monitored the player closely, while Nottingham Forest expressed interest earlier this year.
