Fred Ondoa Onambele makes FC Villefranche switch from Troyes

French-Cameroonian left-back Fred Ondoa Onambele has joined FC Villefranche from ESTAC Troyes B on loan, with the move running until 30 June 2027.

The 19-year-old defender moves to a Villefranche side competing in Ligue 3 after spending the previous campaign with Troyes B in National 1 Group C. The transfer gives Onambele experience with a new club while keeping him connected to the Troyes system through the end of the loan.

Onambele made 23 appearances in National 2 Group F, scoring seven goals and providing one assist. He also played 19 times in National U19 Group B, where he scored once, while appearing in the Coupe Gambardella and making a Ligue 2 appearance for Troyes.

The left-back joined ESTAC Troyes B from Troyes Under-19s on 1 July 2025, having previously progressed through Troyes’ Under-17 side. His move to Villefranche therefore marks his first change of senior club since entering Troyes’ reserve set-up.

At 1.83m, Onambele is a left-footed defender whose preferred position is on the left side of the back line. Born in Yaounde, he holds French and Cameroonian nationality.

His record in the National 2 campaign included a goal every 267 minutes across 1,866 minutes on the pitch, while his playing time at Under-19 level amounted to 1,044 minutes. He also featured for two minutes in Ligue 2, adding senior first-team experience to his appearances for the reserve and youth sides.

Onambele’s arrival comes with a scheduled return to ESTAC Troyes B at the end of the 2026-27 campaign. The defender has now completed his loan move to FC Villefranche through 30 June 2027.
