Eintracht Frankfurt push to re-sign Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo

Eintracht Frankfurt are working on a deal to bring Nottingham Forest striker Arnaud Kalimuendo back to Germany after his impressive loan spell at the Bundesliga club last season.

According to Sky Sport Deutschland, Frankfurt are among several clubs interested in the 24-year-old French forward with Congolese roots, but Forest’s asking price could make a deal difficult.

The Premier League club want more than €30m for Kalimuendo and are insisting on a permanent transfer rather than a loan with an option to buy.

Kalimuendo impressed during Frankfurt loan

Kalimuendo spent the second half of last season on loan at Frankfurt and quickly established himself as an important attacking player.

He scored six goals and provided one assist in 19 Bundesliga appearances, directly contributing to seven goals during his spell with Die Adler.

His performances have convinced Frankfurt to explore the possibility of making his return permanent.

Forest demand permanent transfer

Nottingham Forest are under no immediate pressure to sell Kalimuendo, with the striker contracted to the club until 2030.

The English side are demanding a fee in excess of €30m and have rejected the possibility of another loan arrangement that would include an option to buy.

Forest instead want any interested club to commit to a permanent transfer for the France international.

That stance could complicate Frankfurt’s efforts, particularly given the significant investment already required to secure the striker.

Difficult spell in England

Kalimuendo joined Forest from French club Rennes for €30m last summer but has struggled to reproduce his best form in England.

He made 16 appearances for the Reds, starting only four matches, and scored just twice.

His contrasting fortunes in England and Germany have now prompted Frankfurt to explore a reunion, while other clubs are also monitoring his situation.
