German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in signing Danish-born forward of Nigerian descent, William Osula, in the January transfer window.

Osula was a serious target for Frankfurt in the summer, and according to BILD’s “True or Not True” programme, the 22-year-old still wants the switch to the Bundesliga. That keeps Eintracht firmly in contention, although they face competition from fellow Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart, who have also submitted an offer.

Frankfurt and Newcastle were close to an agreement before the summer transfer deadline, with a €5 million loan fee and a €25 million purchase option reportedly on the table. However, the deal collapsed due to timing issues.

The plan is now being revived for January, but securing Osula won’t come cheap. BILD expects a minimum package of around €25 million, potentially structured again as a loan with an obligation or option to buy.

Osula, currently no more than a second or third choice at Newcastle, was keen on a Bundesliga move earlier in the year.

Should he join Frankfurt, he would provide strong competition for newly signed striker Jonathan Burkardt in the centre-forward role.
