Franco-Senegalese coach Habib Beye deprived of backroom staff ahead of Marseille debut

Olympique de Marseille head coach Habib Beye will be forced to take charge of his first match without his trusted backroom staff.

His assistants, Sébastien Bichard, Olivier Saragaglia and Yann Cavezza have been blocked by Stade Rennais, where they previously worked alongside the Senegalese tactician.

The delay stems from the Breton club’s failure to issue their official dismissal letters, preventing them from immediately joining Marseille.

However, the trio will be absent from Marseille Ligue 1 fixture against Stade Brest on Friday night, leaving Beye to navigate his debut on the bench without his usual support system.

The administrative situation could reportedly drag on until March 12 — one month after their preliminary dismissal interview — potentially sidelining the assistants for Marseille’s next three fixtures. That stretch includes key encounters against Olympique Lyonnais and Toulouse FC in both the Coupe de France and Ligue 1.

Beye himself had to wait a week before being officially released from his role at Rennes, and he will now be hoping for a swift resolution for his close collaborators. Their return is eagerly anticipated as the new Marseille boss seeks stability and cohesion within his technical staff during a crucial period of the season.
