Franco-Malian star Ousmane Dembélé set for one-month injury layoff
France international of Malian descent Ousmane Dembélé is set to be sidelined for one month due to an injury setback in the Champions League.
Dembele, who recently secured the Ballon d’Or accolade was forced off with an injury as Paris Saint Germain fell short to Bayern Munich in matchday four of the UEFA Elite competition on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old picked up calf muscle injury, forcing his substitution in the 25th-minute mark. As per sources, Dembele is expected to sit out of action for about a month following the latest setback.
Dembele has been inconsistent for PSG this season due to injury setbacks. This is the second injury sustained since the commencement of the current campaign.
After the game, PSG head coach Luis Enrique opened up on Dembele’s latest injury.
“We need to wait for tomorrow, when medical checks will clarify the situation with the players’ injuries. In Ousmane’s case, this issue isn’t related to his previous injury. But he played as much as you saw,” Enrique said.
The 28-year-old has made 13 appearances across competitions for Paris Saint Germain this season, scoring five goals and delivering three assists in the process.
