Franco-Malian defender Ousmane Touré is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after succumbing to a severe injury while in action for Lille OSC.
The 20-year-old centre-back was forced off with an injury in his outfit French Ligue 1 opener against Stade Brestois on Sunday, which ended 3-3.
Touré started the high-stake clash for his side but had to be substituted midway through the second half. The defender picked up anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and is expected to spend time on the sidelines.
Considering the severity of the injury, the defender will require surgery to overcome the setback.
“He will face a long period of unavailability” the French Ligue 1 outfit revealed. Meanwhile the defender could be out for the rest of the 2025/26 football campaign.
The Franco-Malian was drafted into the team in the absence of Aïssa Mandi, Tiago Santos, and Thomas Meunier due to injuries and illness.
Having fallen short with squad depth, Lille boss Bruno Génésio will have to turn to teenager Maxima Goffi for the upcoming matches.
