Franco-Ivorian forward Charly Keita set to join IMT Belgrade
Charly Soualio Keita is close to sealing a move to Serbian top-flight club IMT Belgrade after leaving Turkish side Amed SK at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old Franco-Ivorian forward, who has been a free agent since June, has reached an agreement with the Belgrade outfit and is expected to finalise the deal in the coming days.
Should the transfer proceed as planned, Keita will add Serbia to a growing list of countries in his professional journey.
Born in Yopougon, the striker has already played in France with CS Sedan and Clermont Foot, in Switzerland with FC Biel-Bienne, in Belgium with Beerschot VA, and most recently in Turkey with Amed SK.
For Keita, the move represents an opportunity to reset his career and test himself in a new league.
An agreement has already been reached with the Red and Yellow team, and the Ivorian center forward is expected to formalize his commitment, barring any unexpected changes, the report stated.
Keita’s recent record reflects a player still searching for his breakthrough moment.
During the first half of last season, he featured in 23 matches for Beerschot VA, contributing two goals and one assist.
His subsequent spell with Amed SK saw him make 15 appearances, also netting twice.
Transfermarkt currently values the forward at €550,000.
Interest in Keita has not been limited to Serbia.
Earlier this summer, Cypriot clubs Pafos FC and Apollon Limassol, as well as Turkish outfits Vanspor FK and Sakaryaspor, were all linked with the player.
However, IMT Belgrade have now emerged as the frontrunners, with negotiations having advanced to a decisive stage.
IMT Belgrade, competing in the Serbian SuperLiga, are preparing for their upcoming fixture in the eighth round of the championship against Javor.
The club will be looking to strengthen their attacking options, with Keita’s arrival potentially providing a boost for the remainder of the campaign.
At 26, Keita still has time to re-establish himself and build consistency after years of moving between clubs and leagues.
His next chapter in Belgrade could prove pivotal in shaping the trajectory of his professional career.
