French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco are closing in on the acquisition of France international of Guinean descent Paul Pogba.
Pogba, a member of the France squad that won the 2018 World Cup in Russia has been cleared to return to the pitch after completing his doping ban suspension early this year.
The former Manchester United star ban was reduced from four years to just 18-months after appeal. Having terminated contract with Juventus, the 32-year-old midfielder will have to find himself a new club before the commencement of the upcoming campaign.
According to reports, Monaco are finalizing details for the acquisition of the midfielder, who is expected to sign a two-year deal with the club.
Pogba will play in the Ligue 1 for the first time in his career, after spending most of his professional career with Juventus and Manchester United.
The Le Havre Academy product hasn’t featured in a professional game since September 2023.
Pogba was offered to AS Monaco at the start of the month. However, the France international midfielder made financial sacrifices to reach an agreement in principle with Les Monégasques.
Monaco concluded the past Ligue 1 campaign in third place, thus sealing their qualification for the Champions League. With his wealth of experience, the midfielder can contribute significantly for the club next season.
