Franco-Guinean defender Bafodé Diakité is on the verge of joining Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Diakité, who is in the books of French outfit Lille has agreed personal terms with the Cherries, pending final agreement between both clubs.
The 22-year-old has become the priority target for the Premier League side following Dean Huijsen’s (20) departure for Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain being heavily linked with a transfer for Ilya Zabarni (22). Diakité who has impressed in his consistency for Lille has caught The Cherries’ attention.
Bournemouth will now have to meet Lille’s €35m baseline transfer fee before a deal can be reach.
In an attempt to secure the signing, Bournemouth’s President of Football Operations, Tiago Pinto, and Lille’s president Oliver Létang are in direct communication over this transfer.
Diakité’s current contract with the French Ligue 1 outfit is expected to run out in summer 2028
