Amir Abdou has been officially named the new head coach of Hassania Agadir, the Moroccan club announced on Thursday, 12 June 2025.

The Franco-Comorian tactician takes over the helm following a turbulent season for the club, which only narrowly avoided relegation from the Moroccan top flight.

His appointment signals the beginning of a fresh chapter in the club’s strategy, with management aiming to bring renewed energy and consistency to the team’s technical direction.

Abdou, widely respected for his work with the Comoros national team and several African clubs, will be tasked with revitalising Hassania Agadir both on and off the pitch.

His arrival is part of a broader restructuring effort by the club’s board, who are determined to restore competitive ambition and re-engage a fan base disillusioned by a difficult campaign.

He replaces Abdelhadi Sektioui, who stepped down after successfully guiding the team to safety in the closing stages of the season.

While Sektioui managed to preserve the club’s top-flight status, the overall performance was deemed unsatisfactory by the club’s leadership, prompting a change in direction.

The specifics of Abdou’s contract, including its duration and performance expectations, are expected to be disclosed in an upcoming press conference.

However, insiders suggest the focus will be on long-term development, improved consistency, and restoring Hassania’s reputation as a competitive force in Moroccan football.

Club officials have expressed confidence in Abdou’s ability to bring stability and tactical discipline to the squad, while also nurturing younger talent and fostering a stronger team identity.

His experience across various football cultures is seen as a valuable asset in navigating the challenges of the Botola Pro.

For Abdou, the move represents a significant new challenge in his coaching career. Known for his methodical approach and ability to galvanise underperforming teams, he now steps into a role that carries both high expectations and considerable pressure.

The club’s supporters, who endured a season of uncertainty and underachievement, will be looking to him to inspire a turnaround.

Hassania Agadir’s management believe the appointment is a statement of intent — a signal that the club is ready to leave behind a season marked by instability and look ahead with renewed purpose.

In addition to on-pitch objectives, Abdou is expected to play a role in redefining the club’s footballing philosophy and strengthening the cohesion between the senior squad and the club’s youth system.

As pre-season preparations begin, all eyes will be on how Abdou implements his ideas and shapes the squad ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

The task ahead is clear: build a team capable not only of surviving in Morocco’s top division, but of competing with consistency and ambition.
