Sacha Boey looks set to remain at Bayern Munich until the end of the season after reportedly rejecting several offers from clubs in France and England.

The Franco-Cameroonian right-back, 25, has turned down a move to Olympique Lyonnais and reportedly declined interest from multiple English Premier League clubs, according to Sport Bild.

His refusals have frustrated Bayern’s management, as they had been exploring potential departures for the player during the current transfer window.

Boey’s limited playing time at Bayern has contributed to the speculation over his future. The right-back has made just 15 appearances this season, totaling 630 minutes on the pitch and registering a single assist.

Despite his limited action, the club’s management now faces the prospect of retaining a player who has consistently declined transfer opportunities.

One of the main factors cited for the blocked moves is Boey’s salary. Earning €3 million annually, his contract until June 2028 makes negotiations difficult for interested clubs, even those with the financial means to acquire him. His market value is currently estimated at €15 million.

Boey, who holds dual Franco-Cameroonian nationality, has expressed a desire to continue at Bayern for the time being, prioritising stability over moving mid-season.

While Bayern may have preferred to offload him to create space in the squad or reduce the wage bill, the player’s stance appears firm.

The club now faces a delicate situation, balancing squad rotation and player satisfaction while keeping a defender on the payroll who has limited game time but a significant salary commitment.

How Bayern manage Boey over the remainder of the season will be closely watched, particularly with domestic and European fixtures demanding squad depth.

For now, it seems Bayern will retain the right-back through the end of the season, with any potential move likely deferred until the next transfer window.

Boey’s decision highlights the challenges clubs face when player demands and financial considerations intersect with strategic squad planning.
