SC Bastia have confirmed the permanent signing of Franco-Burkinabe winger Ayman Aiki from AS Saint-Étienne, with the 20-year-old penning a four-year deal with the Corsican club.

Aiki, who came through the youth ranks at Saint-Étienne, was no longer part of the first-team plans at his boyhood club.

After joining Bastia on loan for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, he now makes the move permanent in a bid to secure regular playing time and further his development.

During his loan spell, Aiki featured in six Ligue 2 matches, providing glimpses of his pace, agility and attacking intent.

While he did not find the net, his versatility and work rate impressed Bastia’s technical staff, who moved swiftly to secure his services for the long term.

His current market value is estimated at €400,000.

In announcing the deal on their social media channels, SC Bastia welcomed the young forward back to the Stade Armand-Cesari, highlighting his potential to become a key figure in their Ligue 2 campaign.

The club’s faith in Aiki is reflected in the length of his contract, which runs until the summer of 2029.

For Saint-Étienne, the transfer brings an end to Aiki’s decade-long association with the club, where he rose through the academy but struggled to cement a regular place in the senior side.

His departure is part of a broader squad reshuffle as Les Verts seek to balance youth development with immediate competitive needs.

Bastia, meanwhile, are preparing for their second league fixture of the season against Pau FC.

The team will be looking to build momentum, and Aiki’s signing is expected to add further depth and competition to the attacking options available to manager Régis Brouard.

The winger’s ability to operate on either flank offers tactical flexibility, while his familiarity with Bastia’s style of play should help him settle quickly.

Fans will be eager to see whether his extended stay in Corsica can unlock the potential that has long been evident since his early days at Saint-Étienne.

With his move now finalised, Aiki faces the challenge of transforming promise into consistent performances at a club that has placed considerable faith in his talent.

For both player and team, the new chapter begins with high expectations and the shared goal of pushing Bastia higher up the Ligue 2 table.
