Franck Kessié’s potential return to Serie A gains momentum

Talks of Franck Kessié returning to Italy are gathering pace, with several Serie A clubs reportedly showing renewed interest in securing the Ivorian midfielder’s services.

The 28-year-old, currently under contract with Al-Ahli Saudi, has emerged as a target for multiple Italian sides during this transfer window.

Speculation surrounding a potential move began intensifying after AS Roma were linked with Kessié in recent weeks.

The Italian capital club is believed to be closely monitoring his situation, sparking a surge in rumours about a Serie A comeback for the former AC Milan and Atalanta star.

Juventus are also said to be seriously considering a formal approach. According to reports, the Turin-based club is preparing a three-year contract proposal that would offer financial terms on par with Kessié’s current earnings in Saudi Arabia.

The move reflects Juventus’ ambition to reinforce their midfield with an experienced and physically imposing presence.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina have reportedly entered the race as well. Journalist Niccolò Santi recently reported that the Florence club has opened preliminary discussions with the Ivorian international, further heating up competition for his signature.

Despite the growing interest, all suitors face a significant stumbling block—Kessié’s salary. The midfielder currently earns €14 million per year at Al-Ahli, a figure that has so far discouraged swift movement from clubs seeking to lure him back to Italy.

His lucrative contract, which runs until June 2026, is also protected by favourable tax conditions, making a premature exit less appealing from the player’s perspective.

Although Kessié is not actively seeking to break his contract, the situation remains fluid. Should one of the interested clubs adjust their plans or meet his financial expectations, the dynamics of the transfer could shift.

However, as it stands, a return to Serie A appears more likely to materialise from next summer rather than in the current window.

The Ivorian’s market value is currently listed at €14 million. His performances in Saudi Arabia have kept him in the spotlight, and his experience in top European leagues continues to make him an attractive prospect for clubs aiming to bolster their midfield with a player of proven quality and leadership.

A stalwart of the Ivorian national team and a central figure in Milan’s 2021–22 Serie A title-winning campaign, Kessié brings both pedigree and consistency to any team he joins.

His strong performances with Atalanta earlier in his career also cemented his reputation as one of the most dynamic midfielders to emerge from Africa in recent years.

For now, Kessié remains committed to Al-Ahli, but with several Italian clubs circling, the coming months could see the story evolve.

Whether the financial hurdles will be overcome remains to be seen, but his potential return to Italy continues to dominate discussions in the current transfer window.
