Franck Kessie strikes early as Atalanta end losing run against Venezia

Franck Kessie opened his Serie A account for Atalanta with a composed finish in the fourth minute of their 3-1 victory over Venezia on matchday six.

The Ivory Coast international gave Atalanta the perfect start in Bergamo, calmly lifting the ball over the goalkeeper with a precise chip. The finish, executed with the composure of an elite striker, put the hosts in front before the match had fully settled.

Atalanta built on that early advantage with an impressive attacking display in the first half. They went on to secure three important points in front of their home supporters, while Venezia were unable to recover from Kessie’s early opener.

The midfielder’s contribution went beyond his goal. Kessie completed 84% of his passes, had 52 touches and attempted two shots during the match, underlining his influence in Atalanta’s midfield.

His goal also marked the start of his Serie A scoring record for the season and strengthened his importance to the Bergamo side. Atalanta’s victory moved them up to 10th in the league table.

The result leaves them seven points behind leaders Inter, while ending a run of three consecutive defeats in the championship.
