Franck Kessie poised to bring Serie A experience to Juventus midfield

Franck Kessie is close to completing his return to Italian football, with the Ivory Coast captain set to join Juventus after becoming a free agent on 1 July 2026.

The former AC Milan midfielder is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Turin club, with the agreement including an option for a further season. Kessie’s move would mark his return to Italy after the end of his spell in Saudi Arabia.

Kessie has never concealed his strong attachment to Italian football and is now on the verge of beginning a new chapter in the country where he established himself as a powerful and influential midfielder.

His arrival in Piedmont would see him represent a fourth Italian club during his career. At Juventus, he would also be reunited with Ivory Coast international team-mate Jeremie Boga.

The move gives Juventus an experienced player who is familiar with the tactical demands of Serie A. Kessie’s physical presence, composure and ability to contribute across midfield are expected to add depth and authority to the Turin side as they prepare for the major fixtures of the season.

For Juventus, the proposed agreement represents a significant opportunity in the transfer market. The club would be acquiring a midfielder who already understands Italian football and can adapt to its tactical requirements without needing to discover the competition for the first time.

Kessie is also set to bring leadership to a Juventus midfield that will benefit from his experience at the highest level. As captain of Cote d’Ivoire, he carries responsibility both on and off the pitch, while his strength and control are qualities the Turin club value as they plan for the season ahead.

Although the transfer has yet to be officially confirmed, the deal is nearing completion. The final move would take Kessie back to Serie A and make Juventus the latest Italian club to benefit from his experience.

The Ivory Coast international’s period as a free agent began when his Saudi adventure ended on 1 July 2026. He is now on the verge of returning to the country where he has previously made a significant impact and where he remains closely connected to the game.

At Juventus, Kessie would wear the shirt of his fourth Italian club and work alongside Boga at club level as well as continuing to represent Cote d’Ivoire internationally. His anticipated arrival combines familiarity with Serie A, physical power in midfield and proven leadership, making the proposed agreement one of Juventus’ notable moves in the market.
