Franck Dja Djédjé Joins Hibernian on 18-Month Deal
Ivorian striker Franck Dja Djédjé has found a new home in Scotland, signing an 18-month contract with Hibernian FC, a club currently competing in the Scottish Championship (second tier). The move comes after the 28-year-old mutually terminated his contract with Dynamo Minsk in Belarus in December.
Dja Djédjé, the younger brother of Brice Dja Djédjé (formerly of Olympique de Marseille), expressed his enthusiasm upon joining the Edinburgh-based side.
“It’s a very exciting club and I can’t wait to get started,” he told Hibernian’s official website.
“I’ve heard a lot about Hibernian and everything tells me I made the right choice. The goal is to help the club achieve promotion to the top division.”
The Ivorian forward will wear the number 29 shirt and is expected to provide valuable experience and attacking firepower as Hibs push for a return to the Scottish Premiership.
A graduate of Paris Saint-Germain’s youth academy, Dja Djédjé has had a nomadic career, featuring for several clubs across Europe. In France, he played for the likes of Grenoble, Strasbourg, and Nice before embarking on international spells in Norway (Valerenga), Ukraine (Chornomorets Odesa), and Belarus.
Although he was heavily linked with a move to Modena in Italy’s Serie B late last year, the deal fell through, allowing Hibernian to swoop in and secure his signature.
With his blend of pace, strength, and versatility up front, Dja Djédjé is expected to strengthen the squad depth as Hibs chase promotion under manager Alan Stubbs. The club currently sits among the front-runners in the league and will hope the striker can make an immediate impact.
The move also represents a fresh chapter for the Ivorian, who has been on the fringes of the national team but still harbours ambition to break through at the international level.
