Francis Onyeka joins SV 07 Elversberg on loan
SV 07 Elversberg have confirmed the loan signing of highly rated attacking midfielder Francis Onyeka from Bayer 04 Leverkusen for the 2026/27 season, adding another exciting prospect to their Bundesliga squad.
Before the move, Leverkusen secured the 19-year-old’s long-term future by extending his contract under the Bayer Cross until 2032, underlining how highly the club values his potential.
Onyeka has been regarded for some time as one of the standout talents of his age group at Leverkusen and was integrated early into first-team surroundings to accelerate his development. To gain regular minutes at professional level, he spent last season on loan at VfL Bochum.
The German-Nigerian youngster impressed there in the 2. Bundesliga, making 30 appearances and being directly involved in nine goals, with eight goals and one assist to his name. His performances established him as one of the most eye-catching young attacking players in the division.
Elversberg sporting director Christian Weber explained: “We have known and followed Francis for a very long time”, highlighting that the club were convinced by his blend of technical ability, athleticism and goal threat.
Onyeka is equally enthusiastic about the switch, saying: “I am really looking forward to the new challenge at SVE and to being able to take the next step at Bundesliga level,”. Elversberg now hope he can continue his upward trajectory and make an immediate impact in Germany’s top flight.
