France’s slow starts cannot stop Belgium dominance under Zidane

France maintained their perfect start under Zinedine Zidane with a 1-0 victory over Belgium in the second round of Group A matches in the Nations League on Monday.

The result was France’s second successive win since Zidane took charge and strengthened their position at the top of the group with six points. Belgium remain on three points.

France’s victory also extended their dominant record in competitive meetings with Belgium. They have now won their past eight official matches against the Red Devils.

Stats Foot highlighted the sequence on social media, writing: “France have won their last eight competitive matches against Belgium.”

The match also continued a less positive trend for France, who again failed to score in the first half. According to Stats Foot figures, Les Bleus have not found the net before half-time in any of their past six matches.

Despite those slow starts, France have continued to secure results under Zidane and remain in control of Group A after two rounds of fixtures.

France’s next match will be against Italy on 2 October, while Belgium will face Turkey in the third round.
