Francely Lomboto has left Glenavon and is now a free agent after his contract with the Northern Irish Premiership side came to an end, making the Republic of Ireland and DR Congo winger available on a free transfer from 21 November 2025.
The 25-year-old, valued at €75k on the transfer market at the time of his Glenavon spell, has officially moved into the “without club” category following his departure, meaning any interested side can now sign him without paying a fee. The move ends a short stint in Northern Ireland’s top flight and leaves the attacker weighing up his next destination.
Lomboto had joined Glenavon from League of Ireland club Sligo Rovers ahead of the 2025–26 campaign, having only switched to Sligo from Galway United at the start of the calendar year. His rapid sequence of moves in 2025 marked a significant phase in his career, taking him from the Irish league system into the Northern Irish Premiership before his current status as a free agent.
An attacking left winger by trade, Lomboto offers height at 1.86m and the versatility to operate across the front line. Born in Galway on 2 July 2000, he holds dual nationality with Ireland and DR Congo, giving him potential eligibility for two different national teams. His development pathway took him from Galway United’s academy into their senior team in July 2020, before his career progressed through the League of Ireland and then into Northern Ireland’s top division.
Lomboto’s market value rose from €50k during his time at Galway United to €75k after his move to Sligo Rovers, reflecting his growing status in the League of Ireland. That valuation remained in place going into his spell at Glenavon, underlining the regard in which he is held despite now being unattached.
His club CV already spans Galway United Academy, Galway United’s first team, Sligo Rovers and Glenavon, giving him experience in both the League of Ireland and the Northern Irish Premiership. With his contract in Lurgan now concluded and no new deal in place, he is free to negotiate with clubs in any country.
There is no transfer fee involved in his current status, with the move out of Glenavon recorded as a standard free transfer and his new designation simply listed as “Without Club”. The league for his next team is listed as “N/A”, underlining that he is currently outside any competition structure and available to sign at any point, subject to registration rules.
The winger’s immediate future will now depend on interest from clubs at home or abroad willing to take on a player entering what should be the prime years of his career. Having already sampled senior football in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, the next move is likely to be pivotal in determining whether Lomboto can convert his promise and €75k valuation into a long-term platform at a higher level, or whether he returns to more familiar surroundings in the Irish game.
