Samuel Eto’o Pays Rapper Rohff’s Bail from Brazil, Securing Early Release
Former football star Samuel Eto’o has once again demonstrated his generosity—this time by stepping in to secure the release of French rapper Rohff, who had been imprisoned for two months.
Rohff, whose real name is Housni Mkouboi, was serving time for “premeditated group violence” against a 19-year-old man. However, on Friday morning, a judge granted him conditional release, allowing him to leave prison under electronic surveillance pending further proceedings.
The twist came when the rapper, expecting to remain in custody until the formalities were completed on Tuesday, was told just hours later that he was free to leave—thanks to a surprise intervention by Samuel Eto’o.
The Cameroonian football icon, currently in Brazil, had paid Rohff’s bail without informing him beforehand.
Rohff shared the unexpected news with his fans through a Facebook post, expressing both shock and gratitude:
“This Friday at 10:30 a.m., the judge accepted my release on bail and electronic bracelet. I learned the news at 3 p.m., looking forward to Tuesday to settle the bail payment peacefully. But two hours later, I was told to pack up and leave immediately—I was eligible for release. To my great surprise, the bail had been paid earlier that afternoon by a great man, live from Brazil: Samuel Eto’o Fils. Great class! A big thank you.”
While Eto’o is often known for his competitive edge and outspoken nature—sometimes labelled as “rude” by critics—this episode sheds light on another side of the football legend: a quiet generosity and willingness to help those in need.
