FRANCE: PLATINI: “A MOMENT OF SHAME IN SOUTH AFRICA”

During a press conference for Euro 2016, Michel Platini addressed the events that occurred in Knysna during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, expressing his discomfort with the situation.

Platini did not hesitate to describe the behavior of some players as shameful, acknowledging the difficulty of hiding the negative atmosphere that emerged during that time. He expressed his own discomfort and dissatisfaction with the situation.

However, Platini emphasized the importance of moving forward and learning from past mistakes, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Brazilian World Cup. While acknowledging that some individuals may still harbor resentment, he urged for exemplary behavior from all involved to overcome the lingering negativity.

The incident in Knysna notably involved Nicolas Anelka, who made insulting remarks towards coach Raymond Domenech during the match against Mexico. Anelka later explained his actions in a book.
