OGC Nice Held by Reims: Nampalys Mendy Stays Positive Despite Frustrating Draw
OGC Nice had to settle for a draw against Stade de Reims on Saturday in Ligue 1’s 14th matchday, a result that didn’t fully satisfy captain Nampalys Mendy. Despite the disappointment, the Franco-Senegalese midfielder chose to focus on the positives.
“A failed match? No, I don’t think so. The spirit was there. We gave our all to get a result,” Mendy stated post-match. “Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Reims were compact and caused us a lot of problems. It wasn’t easy.”
Mendy admitted that Nice lacked energy, particularly after the break:
“In the first half, we had chances but lacked efficiency. That made things more complicated later. Still, we didn’t concede, and that’s a good point.”
Since their stunning 7-2 win over Guingamp, Nice have struggled to maintain momentum. Sitting 10th in the Ligue 1 standings, they now face a tough trip to Paris for Matchday 15 against PSG.
