Florent Malouda Set for Long-Term Role at Châteauroux

Former France international Florent Malouda is preparing for life after football, with plans already in motion for a return to his roots at Châteauroux, the club where he began his professional career.

Currently playing for Turkish side Trabzonspor, Malouda is set to take on a long-term role in the management structure at La Berrichonne de Châteauroux. The Ligue 2 club confirmed the news in an official statement, revealing that the 33-year-old participated in a recent meeting of the club’s Board of Directors.

“Florent Malouda participated today in the Board of Directors,” the club said in a press release. “He will invest in the long term as his career evolves.”

Malouda has maintained a strong relationship with the club throughout his career, and his return in an executive capacity is seen as a natural continuation of that bond.

The former Chelsea winger also shared the news with his fans on Twitter, posting a photo alongside Michel Denisot, Châteauroux’s vice-president. “A quick visit to the Berri region to the board of directors of La Berrichonne de Châteauroux,” he wrote, signing off with the hashtag #1Love.

Malouda, who made over 50 appearances for the French national team and enjoyed a successful spell at Stamford Bridge—winning the Premier League and Champions League—has been gradually preparing for a transition off the pitch. His new role at Châteauroux is expected to evolve as he nears the end of his playing career.

The move underscores the club’s ambition to reconnect with its former stars and build a foundation for long-term stability through experienced leadership.
