Loïc Rémy shared his feelings after France’s narrow 1-0 loss to Germany in the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals, expressing both pride and some frustration.
“It was a great pride to be there,” Rémy said. “In the group everything was going well, I was happy to be on the bench. The team was working well, there was no reason to change. Of course I would have liked to play more but I won’t go back on that.”
He acknowledged the team’s strong performance overall: “We had a very good World Cup. In the competitions to come, we will know what to do and what to avoid. The group created a nice surprise by reaching the quarter-finals. We were not at all expected.”
Rémy also noted the support from fans: “Whether here or in France, the French people were behind us.” Despite the disappointment, he remains proud of the team’s effort and hopeful for the future.
