The match between Caen and Châteauroux in Ligue 2 on the 29th matchday witnessed controversial arbitration decisions, particularly regarding a goal scored by Christophe Maboulou of Châteauroux. Referee Christian Guillard initially validated the goal, which was scored with Maboulou’s hand, before reversing his decision and then validating it again.
This decision led to frustration and anger among the players of Stade Malherbe, Caen’s club, especially goalkeeper Damien Perquis. He expressed his frustration, stating, “It’s very, very frustrating to be fooled on this. We work hard for the club, and it really upsets us to see that.”
The confusion resulting from the referee’s decision ultimately led to the premature end of the match. Stade Malherbe even filed a technical reservation after the match in response to the controversial incident.
