Vincent Enyeama, the Nigerian goalkeeper for Lille, has been named the winner of the 2014 Marc Vivien Foe Prize. This award, established in 2009, honors the best African player of the season in France’s Ligue 1. Enyeama becomes the first goalkeeper to clinch this prestigious award, breaking the trend of midfielders and attackers who previously dominated the accolade.
Despite missing out on the “Best Goalkeeper” award at the recent UNFP Trophies, which went to Salvatore Sirigu of PSG, Enyeama’s outstanding performances for Lille have earned him this recognition.
Here’s the ranking for the 2014 Marc Vivien Foe Prize:
- Vincent ENYEAMA (Goalkeeper – Lille/Nigeria): 117 points
- Serge AURIER (Defender – Toulouse/Ivory Coast): 109 points
- Henri BÉDIMO (Defender – Lyon/Cameroon): 93 points
- Salomon KALOU (Striker – Lille/Ivory Coast): 92 points
- Vincent ABOUBAKAR (Striker – Lorient/Cameroon) & Mounir OBBADI (Midfielder – Monaco/Morocco): 46 points

- Prince ONIANGUÉ (Midfielder – Reims/Congo): 9 points

Enyeama’s exceptional form and contributions to Lille’s success this season have rightfully earned him this accolade, further highlighting his importance both at club and international levels.
