Toulouse Rely on African Contingent for Trip to Caen
By BBC Sport
Toulouse head into their second Ligue 1 fixture of the season full of confidence following last weekend’s impressive victory over Saint-Étienne. The southern French side now travel to Normandy to face Caen, and head coach Dominique Arribagé will once again count on his strong African core.
Key players Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik, Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro, Tongo Doumbia, and Ali Ahamada have all been named in the squad for Saturday’s encounter, offering experience, physicality, and technical quality in key areas of the pitch.
Kana-Biyik, the Cameroonian centre-back, will likely anchor the defence, while Akpa-Akpro (Ivory Coast) and Malian international Doumbia are expected to contribute energy and control in midfield. Goalkeeper Ahamada, who has Comorian roots, is also included in the squad.
Toulouse squad to face Caen:
Goalkeepers: Ahamada, Goicoechea
Defenders: Kana-Biyik, Moubandje, Ninkov, Spajić, Spano, Yago
Midfielders: Akpa-Akpro, Bodiger, Didot, Doumbia, Regattin, Somalia, Trejo
Forwards: Ben Yedder, Braithwaite, Roman
Toulouse will be aiming to maintain their early-season momentum with another positive result away from home. Caen, meanwhile, are also coming off a strong opening performance after defeating Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome, setting the stage for an evenly matched contest.
