OGC Nice Still in Talks with Hatem Ben Arfa for Next Season
Though Hatem Ben Arfa was initially set to join OGC Nice for the second half of the current season, the move was blocked due to FIFA regulations preventing a player from representing more than two clubs in a single season. However, Nice has not given up on the talented midfielder.
According to club president Jean-Pierre Rivère, the club remains in contact with Ben Arfa and is optimistic about a potential signing for next season.
“We continue to discuss. He is a boy who has been heavily criticized for his past. However, Hatem, for me, has real human values, beyond his talent,” Rivère told L’Équipe.
Ben Arfa, who played briefly for Newcastle and Hull City earlier in the campaign, was denied the chance to debut with Nice due to a technicality in how his appearances were registered. Despite the setback, a summer move to the French Riviera appears very likely, offering the French international a fresh start in Ligue 1.
