FRANCE: HARD BLOW FOR DUBAI

doubai12

Thierry Doubaï’s season has come to an abrupt end due to a devastating blow – a ruptured cruciate ligament. Despite his excellent form, the Ivorian midfielder for Sochaux faces a six-month period of unavailability.

Doubaï, who has started in eight matches for Sochaux this season and scored two goals, sustained the injury during the match against Rennes and had to be carried off on a stretcher before halftime. The ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee necessitates surgery, scheduled for Tuesday in Strasbourg.

Having recently joined Sochaux on a permanent four-year deal after being loaned from Udinese last winter, Doubaï had made a significant impact, participating in ten Ligue 1 matches with the reserves.

This unfortunate injury also rules Doubaï out of consideration for the Ivory Coast national team. As Ivory Coast faces Senegal in the return match of the CAN 2013 qualifiers in Dakar on October 13, coach Sabri Lamouchi will have to permanently exclude Doubaï’s name from his plans.
