Gomis later took to his Twitter account to reveal that Romao had insulted him during the match, expressing his surprise and disappointment at Romao’s behavior. He quoted Romao as saying, “Go to that fat guy @PierreMenes,” referring to the Canal + journalist Pierre Ménès. Gomis condemned Romao’s lack of respect and maturity, stating that such behavior and comments have no place on football fields.
Pierre Ménès, upon learning of Romao’s remarks, also criticized him harshly on Twitter, questioning his intelligence and character.
