FPL price changes: Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak's prices skyrocket ahead of new season

Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak have received the most significant price hikes ahead of the 2024/25 Fantasy Premier League season, as FPL managers recalibrate their squads following the release of updated player valuations.

Isak, the Swedish forward of Eritrean heritage, has seen his price rise by £2.0 million to £10.5m—matching Salah’s increase to £14.5m, the highest in the game.

While Salah is Fantasy Football Hub’s top-rated captain pick for three of the first four gameweeks, Isak’s FPL minutes could be impacted by ongoing transfer uncertainty.

Liverpool are reportedly circling the Newcastle striker, raising questions over his availability in August.

Chelsea’s Joao Pedro also joins the £2.0 million hike club, starting the new season at £7.5m.

Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood, who netted 20 goals last season, has climbed to £7.5m after a £1.5m increase.

His favourable opening fixtures against Brentford, Crystal Palace, and West Ham have made him an early differential, with AI projections placing him at 20 points over four gameweeks.

New Manchester United signing Matheus Cunha, now classified as a midfielder at £8.0m, is predicted to score 20.2 points early on.

However, established United assets like Bruno Fernandes remain stronger options.

Among new FPL entrants, Arsenal’s Viktor Gyokeres leads with a £9.0m price tag. The Swedish forward has already been selected by 23.8% of managers after scoring 39 league goals for Sporting Lisbon last term.

He is expected to be Arsenal’s first-choice penalty taker and is tipped to be the third-highest scoring forward in the opening month.

Liverpool’s new attacking trio—Florian Wirtz (£8.5m), Jeremie Frimpong (£6.0m), and Hugo Ekitike (£8.5m)—are also drawing attention. Wirtz has been chosen by a third of fantasy managers, while Frimpong’s 27% ownership is only surpassed by captain Virgil van Dijk, who is favoured by AI projections for defensive points.
