The future of Walid Regragui with the Moroccan national team remains uncertain amid interest from Olympique Marseille.
Speculation over his tenure has intensified following Morocco’s failure to secure the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.
According to reports in Morocco, Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation, is scheduled to meet with Regragui on Thursday evening to clarify his position.
Sources indicate that the once-strong relationship between Regragui and the federation has weakened, with the coach reportedly expressing a desire to step down after the tournament disappointment.
While media reports suggest a potential renewal of confidence in Regragui through the 2026 World Cup, the upcoming meeting is expected to be decisive.
Plans reportedly under discussion include a restructuring of the technical staff, bringing in prominent national figures to strengthen technical analysis and player monitoring, while ensuring cohesion within the team’s setup.
Regragui, who has led Morocco since August 2022, guided the team to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup but fell short in the African Cup of Nations final, losing to Senegal.
