Fouzi Lekjaa on World Cup 2030: Anticipate an exceptional edition

Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the Moroccan Football Federation, has affirmed that preparations are well underway for hosting the 2030 World Cup in collaboration with Spain and Portugal.

In an interview with the Spanish newspaper “Marca,” Lekjaa clarified that there is a tripartite committee comprising representatives from Morocco, Spain, and Portugal diligently working on organizing the event.

He further stated that the 2030 World Cup will be an “exceptional occasion,” bringing together two continents and three nations deeply passionate about football, all situated in close proximity to one another.

The President of the Moroccan Federation pointed out that this tournament “will be an opportunity to showcase the rich cultures and Mediterranean civilization of the three countries.”

The location for the final match, which pits the champions of the Euro and the Copa America against each other, has not yet been determined.

However, Lekjaa indicated that they are in the process of constructing a new stadium in Casablanca with a capacity of 115,000 spectators, in addition to the presence of the new Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid with a capacity of 85,000 spectators.

Regarding the selection of 11 stadiums in Spain, 6 in Morocco, and 3 in Portugal for the World Cup, Fouzi Lekjaa explained that the crucial factor is the number of matches to be held in each country.

He affirmed that Morocco has 15 stadiums capable of hosting tournament matches but acknowledged that “the tournament is a joint effort between three countries, and consensus must be reached among all parties involved.”
