Fouzi Lekjaa injured after colliding with glass door at political meeting

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Football Federation and Morocco’s minister in charge of the budget, was injured after striking a closed glass door at the Conference Palace in Skhirat on Saturday.

Lekjaa was leaving a political meeting when he mistook the transparent door for an open entrance and collided with it while walking quickly. He suffered injuries to his head and forehead and was taken to a clinic for treatment and medical checks.

Video shared on social media showed Lekjaa falling to the ground after the impact, with blood running from his forehead. Several people attending the meeting, along with security and protection officers, rushed to help him and provide first aid.

The incident took place during Lekjaa’s attendance at the extraordinary session of the national council of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, according to Moroccan website Hespress.

A post shared by Hespress on 3 October 2026 was captioned: “On the sidelines of the PAM national council meeting… Fouzi Lekjaa falls in the courtyard of the Conference Palace after hitting a glass door.”

Lekjaa received initial treatment at the scene before leaving the meeting venue and making his way to his car. He was then due to be taken to a clinic for further care and examinations to ensure the collision had not caused any complications.

The incident attracted widespread attention in Morocco and on social media, partly because of Lekjaa’s senior roles in both sport and government and his prominent position in Moroccan football.

Lekjaa is expected to attend Morocco’s friendly against Mali at Grand Stade de Tanger on Sunday, the final match of the international break. However, there has been no official confirmation of whether he will be able to be present following the injury.
