The Royal Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa has congratulated AS FAR following their qualification to the semi-finals of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League, praising the club’s achievement after a decisive victory over defending champions Pyramids FC.

In a statement, Lekjaa extended his congratulations “on his own behalf and on behalf of the members of the Federation’s Executive Committee” to AS FAR for reaching the last four of the competition.

The Moroccan side sealed progression with a 2–1 win in Cairo on Saturday, completing a 3–2 aggregate triumph after a 1–1 draw in Rabat in the first leg. The result ended Pyramids’ hopes of defending their title and marked one of the standout upsets of this year’s tournament.

AS FAR made a strong start at the 30 June Stadium, with Reda Salim opening the scoring in the ninth minute to hand the visitors an early advantage. They remained organised under pressure and struck again in the second half, as Mohamed Hrimat doubled the lead in the 54th minute to put them firmly in control of the tie.

Pyramids responded through Fiston Mayele, who pulled one back in the 62nd minute, but the hosts were unable to find an equaliser despite sustained late pressure.

The victory also carries a sense of redemption for AS FAR, who were eliminated by Pyramids at the same stage last season. This time, the Rabat-based club turned the tables to secure a place in the semi-finals.

They will now face either RS Berkane or Al Hilal Omdurman as they continue their pursuit of a first CAF Champions League title since 1985.
