Tunisian coach Fouzi Benzarti, at the helm of Wydad Casablanca, did not mince his words after a disappointing loss in the much-anticipated derby against Raja Casablanca, ending 2-0 in favor of the latter on Wednesday, marking the 14th round of the Professional Football League.
In a post-match statement, Benzarti expressed, “Frankly, we did not have sufficient time to prepare the team.
The accumulation of matches has taken a toll on the squad, and there are disciplinary issues within the team that I have not witnessed in my career.”
He added, “I believe if things do not improve, it will be necessary for me to step down.”
Continuing, he emphasized, “It is unreasonable to play a derby without spectators because the crowd is crucial for such matches.”
Benzarti further commented on the goals conceded, stating, “The first goal came from friendly fire, and the second was due to individual errors, which is unacceptable.
Additionally, we entered the matches with several absences due to injuries, losing three or four players, and we were bound to suffer more than that.”
