Four coaches to watch in CAF Champions League group stage
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named four standout coaches whose tactical influence is expected to define the group stage of this season’s Champions League.
Leading the pack is Tunisia’s Moine Chaabani, who guided RS Berkane to continental glory with a disciplined approach and resilient defense in high-pressure matches.
Next is Croatia’s Krunoslav Jurcic of Pyramids. Fresh from securing his club’s first ever continental title, his flexible tactics and mental strength give his squad a psychological advantage. Jurcic now wants to build Pyramids’ place among Africa’s elite clubs.
Portuguese manager Miguel Cardoso, after success at Esperance, now coaches Mamelodi Sundowns. Drawing on European experience, Cardoso helped Sundowns finish runners-up last season and aims for their first title since 2016.
Finally, young talent Rolani Mokoena, now with MC Alger, is praised for developing players and instilling a winning mentality, after previous success at Sundowns. As group stage matches begin Friday, giants like Al Ahly, Pyramids, Esperance, and Sundowns compete for top honors in African football.
