Swedish outfit AIK Fotboll has announced the appointment of former Orlando Pirates and Al Ahly tactician Jose Riveiro as their new manager.
Riveiro signed a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until December 2028 and is expected to transform the club. The move marks a significant step in the Spanish tactician career.
The Spanish gaffer has, however, expressed his joy after landing the coaching job at the club, while promising to deliver.
“I am very proud and happy to be part of a club that lives and breathes football, AEK, a club with a strong identity, high ambitions and a huge passion surrounding the team.”
“I am now very much looking forward to starting work, building relationships, and working closely with the players and my colleagues in order to develop the team day by day, and to take the next step on both the individual and collective levels.”
This is Riveiro’s first experience since being dismissed from Al-Ahly. He was shown the exit door after just three months spell, having joined from South Africa’s Orlando Pirates.
Ribeiro led Al-Ahly in 7 matches between the league and the Club World Cup, winning only one, losing twice, and drawing 4 times.
