Former Kaizer Chiefs star Kgaogelo Sekgota is currently undergoing rehabilitation amid drug addiction.
Sekgota, who currently plies his trade for Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City FC, has been forced to begin treatment for drug addiction, which developed as a result of depression and setbacks on the pitch.
The 28-year-old Sekgota once delivered top performances, joining Kaizer Chiefs in 2021 and becoming a prime candidate for a Bafana Bafana national team call-up. However, his career quickly spiraled downward, leading the player to seek solace in drugs.
Kgaogelo attempted to revive his career at Stellenbosch, but was released from the team after just six months due to his rapidly worsening destructive habit.
Per reports, Sekgota is now undergoing rehabilitation for drug addiction at the Hope of Achievers center, located in the village of Segwashi, east of Polokwane.
Meanwhile his outfit has already declared its full support for Kgaogelo Sekgota and wished him success in his recovery, stating they look forward to his return to the squad.
“The player needs support, so we are going to support him. As I speak to you now, you can hear that I am in the car. We are driving to Limpopo to see him. You don’t abandon people when they need help; you support them.” – stated Upington City.
