Former Ghana assistant coach George Boateng is in contention for the vacant managerial position at Blackburn Rovers.
The English Championship club is searching for a new head coach following John Eustace’s departure to Derby County.
Boateng, who recently worked as a first-team coach at Coventry City, was previously part of Ghana’s technical team, serving as an assistant coach under Chris Hughton and Otto Addo.
He also has experience coaching at youth levels, having managed Blackburn Rovers’ academy as well as Aston Villa’s U18 and U21 squads.
As a former midfielder, Boateng enjoyed a distinguished playing career with clubs including Coventry City, Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Hull City, and Nottingham Forest.
However, he faces competition for the Blackburn job from former Wolves manager Gary O’Neil, Braga’s Carlos Carvalhal, and ex-Young Boys coach Raphael Wicky, all of whom have also been shortlisted.
With just 15 games left in the season and Blackburn currently sitting fifth in the Championship, the club is under pressure to appoint a new head coach swiftly as they push for a playoff spot.
Their upcoming clash against Plymouth Argyle adds further urgency to the decision-making process.
