Former French Ligue 1 coach Jerome Arpinon eyes Kaizer Chiefs hot seat
Ex-French Ligue 1 coach Jerome Arpinon has expressed strong interest in becoming the next head coach of Kaizer Chiefs amid growing uncertainty over Nasreddine Nabi’s future.
The Tunisian tactician, who took charge of the Amakhosi just over a year ago, confirmed this week that he has left the club despite no official announcement from Chiefs.
Arpinon, 47, is currently without a club after leaving Belgian third-tier side RE Virton late last year. Before that, he managed Nîmes Olympique in the French Ligue 1 during the 2020/21 season.
His tenure there proved difficult, with the club winning only four of 22 matches before being relegated.
However, his experience at the top level of French football has reportedly made him an appealing candidate for the Soweto giants.
“Jerome Arpinon is very interested in the Kaizer Chiefs job. His representatives are finalising things before officially sending his CV to the club,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
“They believe Amakhosi would be a perfect project for him, and he wants to be considered should there be a change in the technical team.”
At present, Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze are reportedly handling the team on an interim basis.
Chiefs are expected to make a decision soon on whether to keep the duo or appoint a new permanent head coach.
