Former French-Ivorian star Djibril Cissé offers advice to Mason Greenwood ahead of Marseille-Real Madrid clash
Former France international of Ivory Coast descent Djibril Cissé has offered valuable advice to England international Mason Greenwood ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash between Marseille and Real Madrid.
The French Ligue 1 giants travels to face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday night in a high-stake clash as both teams will be yearning for maximum points.
However, Cissé, a former player of Marseille has urged Greenwood raise his level of consistency in order to make an impact against Real Madrid.
“The margin of progression for Greenwood is to be more consistent, to be much more influential and impactful in the game,”
“We’ve seen his extraordinary technical quality – he provokes, he dribbles left or right, he destabilizes opponents. But it needs to be repeated more often.”
Greenwood joined Marseille in 2024 after charges of attempted rape and assault brought against him in England were dropped in early 2023.
His debut season in Ligue 1 saw him finish joint-top scorer with 21 goals, but doubts remained over his defensive work and influence in big matches.
Greenwood is expected to start against Real Madrid on Tuesday before PSG visit the Vélodrome on Sunday.
