Former Egypt international Mohammed Barakat is undoubtedly about Al Ahly chances ahead of the maiden FIFA Club World Cup tournament.
Al Ahly, who are record holders of the CAF Champions League are among the clubs expected to represent the African continent.
The Egyptian powerhouse are paired in Group A against Inter Miami, Palmeiras, and Porto.
And Mohammed Barakat believes his former outfit Red Devils can qualify from the first round of the competition.
“Al Ahly has a strong team and Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet) and Hamdi Fathy will be added to it with the return of Aliou Dieng on loan in the World Cup, and I think they can qualify for the round of 16 initially.” Barakat said on the “Red Castle” podcast:
Despite acknowledging Al Ahly’s quality, the former Egypt star has tipped Al Ahly to secure the Champions League competition this season, considering the differences between the two.
The quarterfinals of the Champions League campaign has been scheduled for April 2025.
