Former Egypt star Ahmed Fathi criticizes Zamalek’s Chico Banza for inconsistent performance

Former Egypt international Ahmed Fathi has expressed his disappointment over Zamalek forward Chico Banza’s inconsistent performances this season.

Fathi highlighted that while Banza possesses undeniable talent and physical prowess, his inability to maintain form week after week is hurting Zamalek’s attacking rhythm.

Zamalek, currently competing at the top of the Egyptian Premier League, are counting on Banza to lead the line as they chase domestic glory and continental success. Fathi urged the striker to focus on discipline, match preparation, and mental resilience to regain his best form.

“His level is unstable,” Fathi explained. “Sometimes he has very good moments, and suddenly he looks completely out of sorts and does strange things. He can dribble past one, two, or even three players, but under pressure from just one defender, he easily loses possession.”

The 27-year-old forward has made 19 appearances across competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist in the process.

At the international level, Banza has made 15 appearances for the Angola national team since making his debut in 2018, without scoring or assisting a goal.

He joined the Egyptian outfit last summer, with his current contract expected to elapse in summer 2029.
