Former A’ coach of Cameroon, Clément Arroga, has put forward a unique strategy to rejuvenate the national team. Arroga, who envisions taking over from Rigobert Song, suggests starting with a military camp for the players to instill a sense of patriotism and commitment.

“If I take the national team, I will start with the military camp. I will take the players to the military camp. There are instructors there.

They will transmit to them what green-red-yellow is, patriotism,” Arroga stated during an interview on the “Sacré Matin” program aired on “Radio Balafo.”

The former coach emphasized the importance of having players with a strong patriotic inclination, expressing concerns that this aspect has diminished over time.

The proposal comes in the wake of criticism regarding the commitment and engagement of several players during the AFCON 2024.

Cameroon, a five-time African champion, exited the competition at the round of 16 stage following a 0-2 defeat to Nigeria. Rigobert Song, the current coach of the “Indomitable Lions,” will not have his contract extended, with his coaching tenure ending on February 28.

A formal announcement regarding this decision is expected from the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) in the coming days, according to reliable sources.

In his 23 matches with Cameroon, Rigobert Song secured six victories, eight draws, and suffered nine defeats.

The proposed military camp approach by Clément Arroga adds an unconventional perspective to the ongoing discussions about the future direction and strategies for the national team.

As Cameroon assesses its options for the coaching position, the proposal raises questions about the role of non-traditional methods in shaping team dynamics and performance.
