Former Bournemouth goalkeeper Ionuț Radu not surprised by Antoine Semenyo’s rise
Former Bournemouth goalkeeper Ionuț Radu has heaped praise on Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, insisting he is not surprised by the forward’s meteoric rise.
The Black Stars attacker secured a high-profile move to Manchester City during the winter transfer window and has swiftly become an instant hit. In just 12 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side, Semenyo has scored seven goals and provided two assists, bringing his Premier League tally to 15 goals this season.
Speaking in an interview, Radu, who shared the Bournemouth dressing room with Semenyo before leaving for Celta Vigo, lauded the Ghanaian international’s talent and work ethic.
“On my first day in Bournemouth, I told my family he was the best player I’d ever seen. I also told them he was going to be the biggest sale the club would ever make, and that happened. He’s an incredible player—strength, technique, everything. He’s very good, I respect him a lot,” Radu said.
Semenyo’s outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, as he has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for February, reflecting his growing influence at the Etihad Stadium.
