Former Al-Ittihad Alexandria player leads Jordan to first-ever Asian Cup semi-finals

Jordan’s national football team secured a historic spot in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup for the first time in its history, achieving a crucial victory against Tajikistan (1-0) in the quarter-finals clash held today at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.

Fahadat Hanonov, the Tajikistan player, inadvertently scored an own goal in the 66th minute after a header played by Abdullah Nasib, former player of Al-Ittihad Alexandria.

The Jordanian team will await the outcome of the later clash between Australia and South Korea to determine their next opponent in the semi-finals.

Jordan advanced to the Round of 16 in the current edition of the Asian Cup as one of the top four teams in the group stage, securing third place with 4 points in Group F.

They then faced Iraq in the Round of 16, emerging victorious with a 3-2 scoreline.
